MOUNT KIMBIE: ‘CROOKS & LOVERS’

London-based duo Mount Kimbie, are set to release their debut album Crooks & Lovers on Scuba’s Hot Flush imprint this July.
The 11 track album follows on from 2 successful EP’s on the label last year (the much sought after Maybes & the recently remixed Sketches on Glass), with a focus on warm instrumental loops & recycled, well pitched vocal snippets. Tracks like the evocative, twirling Carbonated, and the skipping garage-isms of Mayor see the sometime threesome (when accompanied by R&S signed James Blake) take the blueprint set out in earlier releases, taking notes from past Burial and Aphex Twin’s more ambient work.
Having become a core part of the ‘post-dubstep’ movement that includes Untold, Kuedo, Fantastic Mr. Fox & the Hessle crew (among others), the album will no doubt set the bar high for a scene still in its infancy.

Crooks & Lovers will be released on 19th July - watch out for our full album review in the coming weeks.
