UNTOLD – JUST FOR YOU / JUST FOR YOU (ROSKA REMIX) (Hot Flush)

Scuba’s recently re-branded Hot Flush imprint embarks on its eighth release, following recent 12’s from Sigha, Pangaea, Jamie Vex’d and Scuba himself, with the return of Untold, a man single-handedly turning the common perception of dubstep on it’s head.
Last releasing on the Berlin-based label just a few weeks back with the 140bpm emo-jungle/garage of HFT006, Jack Dunning moves further into the tribal 4/4 sound explored on previous Hessle Audio and Hemlock releases. Opening with atmospheric synths and echoed clicks, one fully expects a Wax Doctor-era jungle work out to come into play, yet with the crunching bounce of the drop we’re in pure tech-dubstep country as the rattling percussion, ravey bass pads and climbing melody work their way around each other to create a rolling floor-filler of a track.
The late breakdown slowly tones down each element, before launching into a cavernous bass-drop that leads its way back to the leading riff and those opening synths, overlayed with crystal clear r n’b samples.
For the remix, Hot Flush turns to current ‘funky’ linchpin Roska, who brings his trademark ‘Roska’ vocal drops and warm bass sound, whilst bringing down the tempo to suit an offbeat stepping roller. Another prime release from one of dubstep’s leading labels.
