STARKEY - MIRACLES (JAMIE VEX’D REMIX) / CREATURE (Planet Mu)

Our boy Starkey returns to the Planet Mu camp following the international success of debut album Ephemeral Exhibits with a double A-side 12″ that is set to blow up dancefloors worldwide.
Jamie Vex’d takes the rn’b burn of album track Miracles to new heights with his remix, branching out into a post-dubstep sounds that takes things forward whilst harking back to the days of classic Metalheadz and Suburban Base. Warping the female vocal à la Burial sets the scene for the track, with a stumbling, synth-led half-step beat that takes Starkey’s components and twists them into a spaced out slammer.
The all conquering Creature is up next with it’s wailing, dotted synths and ramped up percussion, Starkey builds on his already monstrous way with drums to bring through a crushing, concrete mix of snares and foot drums, cracking their way through the speakers for a devastating dancefloor impact. The smoothed out soulful breakdown is pure Starkbomb, settling the listener down before an horrific second drop.
All in all, another tidy package from Mu, who’s recent run of 12’s has seen the likes of Pinch, Gemmy and now Starkey absolutely ruin it. Stirring stuff.
