CHRIS FORTIER – EP1 - AS LONG AS THE MOMENT REMIXED (EQ GREY)

Chris Fortier invites friends, legends and his favourite piers to remix his recent album. Error Error steps up for the first remix of ‘Sunday Is A Travel Day.’The sound is techno but with a distinctly progressive house feel. Lush, atmospheric yet driving forward at the same time. Bruno Pronsato remixes ‘AsLong As The Moment Exists’ next. His remix is much more laid back. Slowlybuilding through squelches and subtle bass notes it gradually builds to a fidgeting minimal groover. Tech house is the order of the day on Perc’s TrufaxMix of ‘Don’t Hid What You Believe.’ After a slow start it kicks into apercussive sub bass kick treat. Atmospheric tones over the top keep it sounding mysterious. Final remix of this first remix EP is by Ink & Needle- remixing ‘Sunday is Another Day’ again. It’s much funkier than Error Error’s remixstarting straight off with a filtered techno sound which gives way to aslightly unlifting feel. A definite sun rise song. 7/10. RS.

Onthe second of these remix EP’s. Chris welcome along another 4 mates to remixhis tunes in their own style. Ed Davenport is first with his remix of ‘As LongAs The Moment.’ His is tech house with ambient soundscapes and a chugginggroove. These next 2 remixes are Digital BonusTracks- Komposit’s Lobotomy Remix of ‘Belt Seat Fasten’ is very subtle andintricate with a funky warbling bassline complete with hushed vocals and bleepsadding the funk. One of Them remixes ‘Deviated Septum’ next and produces thehardest of these remixes. He keeps the heavy 303 presence of the original andadds a syncopated tough bassline and booming bass. 7/10. RS.
